The Shire of Dragon’s Mist

Bdemo2006-2The Shire of Dragon’s Mist is a branch of the Society for Creative Anachronism which is an international organization dedicated to researching and re-creating European history of the Middle Ages and Renaissance (pre-1600)…

It has members who study every aspect of medieval life. We are brewers, archers, calligraphers, heralds, fencers, spinners, blacksmiths, costumers, dancers, cooks and armoured fighters. We enjoy feasting, spinning, needlepoint, equestrian, leatherwork, beadwork, socializing, live weapons competition, period music, theatre and much more. If someone did it back then, you can bet someone is trying to do it now. “

There are several events pertaining to The Shire of Dragon’s Mist that our class could attend:

  • Winter Bazaar from November 20-22 in Hillsboro, which will include “shopping, fighting, music, more shopping, and entertainment.”
  • Archery practice every Saturday at 3 pm either in Washington Park or in Tigard, depending on weather.
  • Friday night “revels” every week in the Beaverton Community center.
  • Shire combat practice every Sunday from 2-5 pm in Beaverton’s Greenway Park.
